DIY Painting Furniture

My last major project has taken me quite a few days. I got a sweet little dresser for my future baby, and I needed to update the color!

First step: Sand down dresser, take off knobs, and sand some more.
Second step: I didn't use primer, since there was already paint on it- I had a dark black paint anyways, so I was sure it'd cover-and it did! I just used a roller brush and it was so simple.
Third: I ordered a stencil online and used a roller brush on it as well. I recommend using tape to hold it down, or spray adhesive. I didn't want to spend extra money on that, so I had to free hand any mistakes I made. Also watch a stenciling tutorial-it helps. Don't leave the stencil on too long after you paint it. The faster you rip it off the better it looks ( in my case anyways)
Fourth: got the perfect knobs at Home Depot, 98 cents. SCORE.

Anyways, I love the way it turned out. So cute. Even the hubby likes it.

Next, the changing table! Pretty much same basic steps as the dresser. I had to paint it with a regular paint brush because of all the detail, but I love it.

TADA! That's it folks! I know it won't be all put together as a cute little nursery for the baby for a couple months until she needs her nice crib-so until then, this is it!

Revamped Bumper Pads

So since I'm having a little girl, I didn't think the red and blue plaid (that once was my nephews) would really cut it. I didn't really know how I was going to conquer the task, and I didn't want to not be able to use the boyish one in later years if we have a boy-so I just went to it. Sorry I didn't take any pictures during the procedure.

I just folded the fabric together inside out, and stitched up the bottom raw edge. Then I stitched one of the end sides together, and flipped it inside out. (it was really convenient that I had a bumper pad already to measure out my fabric and width, etc. I was able to fit the other pad inside, and I just made strips of fabric to hold it up on the crib, and hand sewed the buttons on. It was a lot easier then I expected, and I love the way it turned out. Simple and cute!

Cookies n Cream Cookies!

I always find great recipes online, thanks to Pinterest. I still had yet to make something. So we found these cookies.. cookies and cream cookies?! Could it get better then that? I love oreos, and cookies, so it sounded like something we must try.

2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 (4.2 ounce) package Cookies 'n Creme pudding mix
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups white chocolate chips
15 Oreo cookies, very coarsly chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugars, add pudding mix until blended. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking soda with a whisk then add it to the butter mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips and Oreo cookies. Drop cookies by rounded spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes in preheated oven until cookies tops barely have a touch of brown. Makes 3 dozen cookies.

They were tasty! Very rich, you'll most likely need some milk to sip on! YUM! I'll for sure be testing out new recipes that I pin.

Indoor Hopscotch

Here is something I've wanted to post on my etsy for quite some time. So I decided to finally get myself organized and just do it!! I made this for my sister and her girls for Christmas and they absolutely LOVED IT! I decided to make another one as well, but since I don't have any kids-well soon, but she won't be able to use it for a couple of years... I decided to try and sell it online instead. It's very cute and fun, everyone can play on it. It is used for indoors on a bad weather day, or whenever!

Anyways, I had fun making it-and plan to make more in the future when my kids can appreciate it-or I get more orders! Go check it out, and tell all your friends!

DIY Cardigan

So I have been wanting to make my own cardigan, since I can NEVER find any that I love when I'm out and about! I found a cute grey and white striped shirt at the thrift store and thought, hum- I should try to make a cardigan. I didn't really know how to make it look great, but I just tried my best! (after looking at countless blogs, pinterest, etc..)Here is a pinterest link/blog link: http://blog.easilydunn.com/2011/10/diy-make-an-awesome-cardigan-out-of-a-shirt-from-the-6th-grade-that-you-refuse-to-throw-away-but-never-wear/

I just cut it down the center, and used fusible no hem tape. Ironed on the edges of the shirt. I think I still need to add a button at the very top, or angle it in a little more, but here it is. First try at the cardi! It will look very adorable with any of the fabric flowers I made as well for embellishment! SO FUN!

And... I made some cute ruffley fabric flower clips! I also posted them to my Etsy shop! Go check them out! Use the fancy schmancy facebook and etsy  buttons on the side >>>>>>>
